Margaret C. Hofmeister Memorial Fund

The Margaret C. Hofmeister Memorial Fund is established in honor and memory of Margaret C. Hofmeister, a longtime resident of Branford and a woman deeply committed to her church, her community and the pursuit of social justice.

Margaret was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Branford, where she served faithfully on numerous committees and boards. She also shared her time and gifts with the broader Branford community, volunteering at the James Blackstone Memorial Library and the Homemakers Thrift Shop. Margaret believed deeply in the importance of working together for a common cause and understood that creating “good trouble” often requires both courage and cooperation. Her pragmatic spirit reminded us that lasting change is rarely accomplished alone, but through the strength of community and collaboration.

This fund will provide a permanent source of support for the operational costs of the Branford Community Foundation, helping to sustain its ability to serve the community for generations to come. In Margaret’s memory, this fund embraces the wisdom of the African proverb: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” It is a fitting tribute to a woman who believed that when we work together, we can go farther in creating a stronger, more just and more caring Branford.

The Margaret C. Hofmeister Memorial Fund was established in 2026 by Margret Hofmeister and Linda Erlanger.
