Celebrating History by Making History

Cast members of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" in Branford, CTWe made history in early July, when the Legacy Theatre presented the first-ever professional production of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” on Branford’s beautiful green!

In recognition of Branford’s 375th Anniversary celebration, the BCF had the privilege of underwriting the event, granting $5,000 to help make the production possible.

Open to the public, the play was performed at 8 p.m., July 2-6 with free admission. The talented cast featured Spenser Long (Peasblossom), standing center, Ben Osborne (Cobweb), standing left, Lauren Rosenay (Titania), Moira Malone (Fairy), Erica Pojonas (Mustardseed), and Livinia Knudsen (Fairy), far right. The cast also included Jeremy Funke as Puck, Mitchel Kawash as Demetrius, and Haneen Hatim Hamdan as Oberon.

The Legacy Theatre is a professional theatre company located at the historic Stony Creek Puppet House, which was built in 1866. The Legacy Theatre purchased this historical building in 2012, and is now working to restore it so it may serve as a premier Arts House for the shoreline and beyond, providing ongoing seasons of uplifting and inspiring professional performances and theatre training.
