| The Branford Community Foundation was proud to support the Shoreline Arts Alliance with a $2,000.00 grant for the Shoreline Arts Showcase. For over 20 years, the Shoreline Arts Alliance has created, presented, and promoted cultural programs and artistic activities in the central Shoreline region of Connecticut. Their success in making the arts visible, diverse, and accessible has been a major force in the cultural and artistic life of the region.
Since 1980, the Shoreline Arts Alliance has seeded the growth of vibrant cultural life in Connecticut. Their programming has grown enormously over the years, along with the number of member organizations (Affiliates) served. Currently, the Shoreline Arts Association has 70 Affiliate member organizations including the Branford Chorale, Let's Dance in Rhythm, the Branford Town Band, the Blackstone Library and Cultural Center, and Musical Art Society of Branford. They continue to publish a quarterly newsletter, which includes an Arts Calendar of Events of Affiliate organizations and a web site calendar with links to all of the Affiliate members (shorelinearts.org).
Shoreline Arts Alliance programs include (above left) Shakespeare on the Shoreline, offering free outdoor performances of classic theatre on the historic Guilford Green; IMAGES, an annual, juried photography competition for Connecticut residents (bottom right Seaside with Elephant by Dana Osborn); and the Future Choices art exhibition, open to high school art students residing or attending school in the Shoreline region (top right, Best of Show from 2007).
